Dark and Darker, an upcoming first-person PvPvE game, was first made available for Alpha playtesting in 2022. Following four previous playtests, the April 2023 Dark and Darker playtest is now live. See below for information on how to play! advertisementDark and Darker April Playtest DurationThe April 2023 Dark and Darker playtest will run from 14 April, 2023 until 19 April, 2023, according to plans shared in the official Dark and Darker Discord server. Dark and Darker Playtest End TimeThere is currently no confirmed end time for the Dark and Darker April playtest. During previous playtests, the developers extended the playtest window for a few additional days past the originally planned end time, but this isn't guaranteed to be the case this time around. Brush up on these Dark and Darker Tips and Tricks to increase your chances of survival!How to Play Dark and Darker Playtest April 2023The April playtest information has been very recently released, and so we haven't had chance to test it out yet! Stay tuned for the latest developments.Due to ongoing legal difficulties, Dark and Darker is not currently listed on Steam. Therefore Ironmace has elected to distribute the playtest files via peer-to-peer file sharing. To obtain the latest client and participate in the April playtest, you'll need to use third-party software capable of downloading Torrent files. The developers have shared the Magnet address for the April Dark and Darker playtest client in the announcements channel in their official Discord server. This address can be copied and pasted into your Torrent software - look for a menu option that says "open Torrent link". Always be cautious when downloading files! Be sure the file link comes from an official source.Unfortunately, the April Dark and Darker playtest will not be available in Korea. Additionally, due to time constraints, localizations are not currently available in the game. Dark and Darker Account LoginUpon launching the game, you'll be prompted to create an account with a user ID and password. Make a note of your ID and password! The below information pertained to previous playtests and hasn't been checked in Playtest 5 yet! After downloading and entering the game, you'll be able to create a character. Choose from one of the Dark and Darker classes, and enter the lobby. Your character will be level 1 with only basic equipment. To queue into a match, first select the Map you wish to play: The Goblin Caves are solo-only. They're brand new for this playtest, and the enemy mobs are significantly more challenging than in the Forgotten Castle. Not recommended for new players. The Forgotten Castle: Normal is the regular map, where teams of 1-3 players compete for loot and the chance to escape. We recommend new players queue into this mode and get to grips with combat first, either solo or with friends. The Forgotten Castle: High Roller costs 100 Gold to enter. It's a high difficulty dungeon, but the drop rate for high quality gear is also increased. Recommended for experienced players who are able to bring decent gear with them, as many players save their best gear for High Roller.advertisementOnce you've chosen your map, select 'Start' in the bottom left to enter the matchmaking queue. After loading in, you may find yourself in the tavern waiting for the lobby to fill and the match to start.
